Growing up in a rural Colorado area, I loathed the vast nothingness.
To look around and only see never-ending plateaus made me feel like I
was on a tiny island surrounded by water. What could you possibly do in
that situation? There were a lot of feelings of isolation and
loneliness.
A few weeks ago I was driving through Wyoming,
which is known to be desolate as shit, when my friend told me something
that really pried my eyes open. He said he's glad to see empty fields considering
how overpopulated and over-industrialized our world is today. I really
appreciated him saying that. Humans are so determined to occupy every
inch of Earth that it truly is refreshing to know there are places where nature, animals, insects, and life are still thriving... naturally.
